FAQs
Where do you ship to?
We ship all over Australia, including WA and Tasmania.
Who do you ship with?
We post our plants through Australia Post every Monday. (Excluding public holiday’s)
What happens when there are public holidays?
When there is a public holiday coming up, we generally hold off our shipment for that week. We do this just in case your plants don’t make it to you in time of that short week and they end up sitting at the post office. This is for the health of the plants and so that we can ensure you are receiving healthy, happy plants in time.
How much will shipping cost?
Depending on your location, prices vary. We have an estimated guide here but final pricing is calculated by Australia Post when you add your address in the checkout.
Can I add to my order once I’ve already placed it?
If you forget to add things to your order, give us a call and we can add them onto it for you. This may require us to collect your credit card details again as we do not keep them after an order has been placed. However, if your order has already been shipped, you will have to place another order.
When will my plants be shipped?
We Process orders on a Sunday night and pack them on a Monday morning. To guarantee that your order will be sent on the Monday, make sure it has been placed by Sunday night.
What are your payment methods?
Payment can be made online by Pay Pal, Credit Card or Bank Transfer. For phone orders, payment is made over the phone by credit card.
Can you hold my order until a later date?
If you have placed an order with us already, or wanting to place one to be sent at a later date, we can hold onto it for you. Either leave a note when you place your order in the ‘notes and special requirements’ box or simply give us a call to let us know.
Can I place my order over the phone?
If you’d prefer to hear a friendly voice then you are welcome to give us a call and place your order over then phone. Please have your complete order ready along with your credit card details.
Can I come and visit the nursery and have a look around at the plants?
Unfortunately we cannot allow customers to walk around the premises. However you can call in advance to organise a pick up of plants if you’re in the area. Give us a call and make an appointment and let us know which plants and how many you would like so that we can have them ready for you.
Why can’t I find your address online?
As we are and ‘online only’ nursery, we do not list our physical address online. If you confirm an appointment day and time, we can give you our details. But if you happen to show up un-announced you may not be able to get in and someone might not be there to help you. So make sure you give us a call first.
What days are you open and what are your opening times?
We are open during the week, Monday to Friday. 8am to 4pm. Closed weekends and public holidays.
When will my plants arrive?
As orders are shipped on a Monday, Depending which state you are in, you should receive them by mid to later that same week. We find coming up to Christmas, these times can be a bit longer due to how busy Australia Post will be. If you are in WA they may arrive early the next week.
But won’t my plants die in transit?
Due to our well thought out packaging system and many years of experience in shipping through the post, it is a very rare occurrence that this would happen.
What happens if some of my plants died during transit?
This is an extremely rare occurrence, but if it does happen we encourage you to take photos of them still in their packaging and give us a call right away. If you think they could be revived, we encourage that you take the plugs out and give them a water. Sometimes they could just be thirsty and need a good drink. There are a number of reasons this could have happened, including a delay in postage or extreme weather conditions. We will do our best to make sure you get your replacements if required if you follow the steps noted above. However, if they have arrived in perfect condition, from here on it is your responsibility to care for them correctly. Click to view our General Information for helpful tips in caring for tubestock when it arrives at your door.
What is the minimum and maximum amount of plants I can order?
We have a minimum order of 20 plants and you can order as many as you would like.
Can I order in bulk?
Yes you can. You may have noticed that we sell ‘Pack Lots’. These are varieties we have in packs of 25 to save you some money. However, if you are wanting to purchase much larger quantities, say 500 to 1000 or more, give us a call on 03 5968 8166.
How do you package plants for shipping?
A white polystyrene plug is placed in the top of each individual tube, which prevents soil from falling out during transit. The tubes are then placed laying sideways in a specially moulded egg carton material tray that prevents the plants from moving about. We have found this to be a very effective system for shipping our plants.
What are your refund policies?
If your plants have died during transit we encourage you to take a clear photo of them still in the packaging and give us a call right away on 03 5968 8166. We want to make sure all our customers have a great experience and receive what they have paid for. However, if they have arrived in perfect condition, from here on, it is your responsibility to care for them correctly. We will not be held responsible for incorrect care or planting. If you are unsure of how to plant or care for you plants, please see our General Information for helpful tips in caring for tubestock when it arrives at your door.

What happens if something that I’ve ordered isn’t in stock?
We do our best to keep count of our stock, but sometimes we can have an influx of orders for certain varieties and can unfortunately run out. Not forever though! We try to make sure we have more stock coming through. When we pack your orders, if we come across part or all of your order being out of stock, we will contact you over the phone to arrange a back order (to be sent out at a later date depending on the growth/root development of new stock), a refund or a replacement for a similar variety.
Why do you sell tubestock plants? Do you sell anything bigger?
We are a tubestock nursery. This means all our plants come in 2 inch (50mm) pots. Everything except for our agapanthus, which are bare rooted (dug straight out of the ground and wrapped in news paper). We believe that tube stock is a very cost effective way to fill up your garden or grow a long distance of hedging. It is also a very convenient way to purchase and receive plants.
Why are my agapanthus wrapped in newspaper and not in tubes?
Agapanthus are very tough hardy plants. We find that bare rooting them cuts down the costs for you and we can also supply you larger plants than if they were to be in tubes.
Should I fertilize my plants before or when I plant them?
We do not recommend this. As they are only tubestock, this can be detrimental to the health of the plants. It can also potentially kill them. The potting media we tube our plants into contains enough fertilizer to keep them going for a few months. We encourage working the soil a few weeks before you plant to get the best results. Compost is also great for giving your soil plenty of nutrients! Please view our General Information about planting and fertilizing.
Why are you called ‘Fernview’ if you don’t sell ferns?
This name came about because the nursery started in a town called ‘Ferntree Gully’ in the Dandenong Ranges, Victoria. We have since moved.
